Where it all started

The Scented Garden Retreat first opened its doors in November 1995 by Laura Heywood, who started the business with a small loan of £3000 from The Princes Youth Business Trust. Laura’s success enabled her to export her products to Japan, Italy and Finland. The popularity of the bespoke treatments offered by The Scented Garden grew quickly and the business moved into larger premises to accommodate the growing trend. The business has won several awards and received letters of congratulations from His Majesty King Charles III, who is a keen advocate of natural therapies. Laura has been fortunate to meet him on a number of occasions & present him with a range of products. The first shop started in humble beginnings in Godstall Lane with a retail area and just one treatment room, selling a wide range of natural products which Laura made herself, such as: bath and body preparations, hand lotions, essential oils, candles and soaps. With a growing family of three, Laura still maintains a hands on approach to her work. Her children can be sometimes found learning the trade and playing shopkeepers!

Old Port Square

The Old Port Square salon opened in August 2023 after realising the need for extra space. The second venue is in the heart of the picturesque Garden Quarter of Chester and nestled by the canal routes. There is free parking at this salon and boasts 3 beautiful and large treatment rooms. This salon has a retail area specialising in Dermalogica skin care and is a CACI Advanced salon too.
